We’ve got wonderful news: we will restart with our language cafe on the 28th of June! Last year, we started with our Cafe in Café Vollin, but in October, this great art cafe had to close its doors due to corona. Want to know what happened after that moment? Read on to find out where and how we continue!
Before the summer holiday starts, we will organise two Talencafes in our new venue, the local theater De Fransche School. Save the dates of our first two cafes: Monday evening June 28 and July 26. After the summer months, we will change that scheme to every first Monday evening of the month.
Recently we also launched ‘Taalwandelingen’, Language Walks. If you like to meet other locals and also locals with an international background, sign up and be linked to another participant for a one-on-one walk. You can practise your target language and also talk in your mother tongue, if that is the language the other likes to learn. We noticed that there is a lot of interest, and many new people have participated. What a nice extra activity, all due to Covid-19. Thank you Covid! On top of that, we will also organise the ‘taalwandelingen’ in mid-August. Want to join? Sign up through the theater and come to the starting point, which is at the entrance of … Theater De Fransche School!
Last year, our start-up subsidy from the Culemborg ‘initiatievenloket’ was spent on the language cafes we organised in January, February, March, June, September, and October 2020. For this year we are busy raising funds to continue running our Language Café. What we just found out is that we received a contribution by the Cultuurfonds Culemborg for the next four ‘Talencafés’ and two ‘Taalwandelingen’. How cool that is! We are very grateful and hope we can make a smooth restart this way. To ask the participants for a symbolic contribution, we charge €3 per person for the entrance ticket. For participation in the ‘wandelingen”‘we charge €2.50 per person. This includes coffee or tea ‘to go’ and an Ommetje, a famous booklet with walks, appreciated by many Culemborg people.
At this moment, while writing this blog, theaters will be allowed to receive 30 people again from the beginning of July. We therefore kindly ask you to register in advance. Moreover, it is practical for us to know how many visitors we can count on due to the number of visitors. activities to be planned. The address of De Fransche School is: Havendijk 1, 4101 AA Culemborg.
