Free web app
English a Day is a free web app (web application) for anyone who has a few minutes to spare per day. Every day you will receive a push mail with a link to five questions that test your English skills and knowledge of:
- Writing: (business) correspondence rules, grammar, punctuation, word order, word choice
- Reading: interpretation of texts and quotes
- Listening: recognizing differences in pronunciation and word stress
- Vocabulary: spelling, pitfalls, word meaning, phrases and sayings, cultural differences
The app is not a regular app. It is an application that can be opened on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet and smartphone and can be used on all operating systems. Curious? Go to: www.englishaday.com and sign up! Or check out our promo.
Pitfalls and mnemonics
The web-app English a Day contains 750 questions. It not only tests grammar and spelling, but also covers many pitfalls in English. With each answer there is an explanation and, where needed, a mnemonic. Every question goes with an indication of the Common European Framework levels. These levels are language levels that are known throughout Europe in education and business.
How does it work? You will receive an automated email on a daily schedule with a link to your test. So you will never forget to take it. The app is adaptive, which means that everyone after registration starts at the lowest level A1. If you are doing well, which is answering four out of five correctly, your level will go up automatically. Do you do poor and you score less than 40% your level will go down after five tests. The highest level is C2!
