Language expert and teacher
My name is Sandra Wormgoor and I am the founder of Taaltutor. After gaining years of experience as a teacher of English and Dutch in secondary vocational education, I decided to set out on my own as a language teacher in 2010. I wanted to tutor individuals and small groups to improve their language skills – on site and online. Every day I work with commitment and lots of fun!
In addition to language classes and vocational training in business, I have been offering online language courses in Dutch and English as second languages since 2012. You can participate via Skype for customized, one-to-one or small group sessions. My students all come from very diverse backgrounds. I have tutored people of many different ages (16+), nationalities and professions, including those in engineering, IT, health care, management and administration. Increasingly, I also work together with independent tutors with Dutch and English as their native tongue. See where our tutors live and work.
A personal and secure learning environment
I graduated in 1995 with an MA in American Studies from Utrecht University. I was introduced to the field of education through a voluntary job as a language teacher in a refugee center. I decided this was what I wanted to do and worked for ten years at an IT Academy as an English teacher. In 2010 it was time to broaden the horizon and I started Taaltutor. The name is a reference to the two languages I teach: Dutch (‘taal’ means language) and English (‘tutor’). One of the main reasons for becoming an independent teacher was my belief that many people benefit from a personal and secure learning environment in which students can and dare to speak more easily in the target language. This is what I try to pursue in all my language lessons.
Taaltutor uses all kinds of language teaching methods and learning resources such as tutorials in order to fully support students. By constantly searching for new tools I can offer customized tutoring. That is why Taaltutor also develops new tools itself. Check out our web-applications English a day and Jargon app.
